GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. Aquinas College faculty members will celebrate the achievement
of women in the fine arts during "We Create Words," a reading of their creative writings
held Wednesday, March 20 from noon to 1:00 p.m. in the Wege Student Center's Loutit
Room. Admission is free of charge. The event is sponsored by the Jane Hibbard Idema
Women's Studies Center.
Assistant Professors of English Vicki McMillan and Pamela Waterbury, and Associate Professor of English Miriam Pederson will read some their poetry and creative non-fiction, then entertain questions from the audience.
"The readers and writers are wonderful women who manage to carve time out of an already busy life as full-time faculty members and mothers to create beauty with words," said Professor of English and event organizer Michelle DeRose, Ph.D. "They also regularly conduct writing workshops, so they are used to inspiring other writers, as well."
For further information, please contact the Jane Hibbard Idema Women's Studies Center at 616-459-8281, ext. 4115.
