(SAC) is sponsoring Hunger and Homeless Week, Saturday, February 23 to Sunday, March
3.
We want make people aware of how blessed we really are, said SAC Coordinator Robin Mankel. By serving others, we can raise awareness about those who are less fortunate than we are.
The week begins with over 40 students abstaining from food as part of the 30-Hour Famine from Friday, February 22 to Saturday, February 23. Donations from sponsors will go to the Christian relief organization World Vision. Starting at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, February 25 and running until 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 26, Casa Hogar will hold a cardboard sleep-out in the Wege Student Center mall.
A Hunger Banquet, held Thursday, February 28 at 5:15 p.m. in the Wege Cafeteria, will give students a taste of the social conditions in first, second, and third world countries. A variety of lectures, chapel services, and volunteer events will also be held throughout the week. Hunger and Homeless Week comes concludes Saturday, March 2 with a volunteer session at the Walk
