GRAND RAPIDS, Michigan, (October 30, 2001) - Aquinas College Resident Directors, along
with the Campus Ministry Department, Resident Assistants, Career and Counseling Services,
and the Social Action Committee will be displaying the Tunnel of Oppression on Tuesday,
November 13 from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. The traffic for the display will be routed
from the Academic Building entrance of the tunnel to the Wege Student Center Building.
The display, Tunnel of Oppression, will encourage people to reflect on feelings of hatred, oppression, and sheer ignorance over issues of body image, sexual orientation, (dis)ability, ethnic cleansing, sexual assault, domestic violence, and other important topics. This program is designed to increase awareness, sensitivity, and knowledge about issues of prejudice and is intended to invoke strong feelings.
