GRAND RAPIDS, Michigan, September 1, 2001 - Aquinas College is pleased to host Philip
Grausman, as a part of the Art and Music Center Gallery Exhibit. He will present a
slide show on Wednesday, September 19, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. in Kretschmer Hall, Art
and Music Center. Admission is free of charge.
Grausman, graduated from Syracuse in 1957 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree, and attended Cranbrook Institute of Art earning his Master in Fine Arts in 1959. He then received a Fellowship in Sculpture at the American Academy in Rome where he worked for three years. Grausman currently is a Connecticut artist and a professor at Yale University.
Grausman's drawings and sculptures tend to focus on details and views of the human head. The slide show will exhibit a variety of his art works and his life-figure study drawings will be exhibited at the Aquinas College Art and Music Center Gallery Exhibit from September 4, 2001 to September 30, 2001. The gallery hours are Monday-Thursday, 10:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m., Friday, 10:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m., 2:00-6:00 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
Grausman also will exhibit some of his drawing and sculptures that range from life-size to larger-than-life scales at Meijer Gardens from July 1, 2001 to September 29, 2001. Grausman uses a variety of materials when creating his sculptures, which allow him to give great detail and definition to each one in order to present different views on physical elements
