Aquinas Alumna, Marisa Fernando (1994) has been has been working for many years with
development in her native Sri Lanka. Since the Tsunami she has been deeply involved
raising money to rebuild cooperative industries that were badly damaged or destroyed
during the Tsunami. Fifty-six of the women that Fernando worked with over the years
were killed and many hundreds more have lost family members, homes, possessions and
their livelihood.
If you would like to help Fernanado and all of those working with her to rebuild Sri Lanka with a donation, please send your donation to Mary Clark-Kaiser, Director of Campus Ministry, Aquinas College, 1607 Robinson Road SE, Grand Rapids, Michigan 4956-1799.
To begin the process we are having a benefit on campus to aide Marisa in her work. The events are open to all of the Grand Rapids community.

6:30 to 9 p.m. - Dances of Universal Peace with the Peaceful Sisters. Join us as the Peaceful Sisters lead Dances of Universal Peace, simple, meditative, joyous, multicultural circle dances. The dances use sacred phrases, chants, music and movements from many traditions to touch our spiritual essence. All are invited to join in. No experience necessary. Participation not presentation is the focus.
The International Network for the Dances of Universal Peace is a nondenominational nonprofit organization whose purpose is to promote peace within and without. The Peaceful Sisters are Susan Ashley, Douglas; Betty Demers, Benozonia; Jane Sky, Grand Rapids; and Catherine Sugas, Kalamazoo.
9 to 11:30 p.m. - Nevaeh Drive - LIVE
Come and hear Aquinas' own up and coming band.
Silent Auction!! Local artists, crafts people, massage therapists, etc. have donated items to be auctioned off to aid the Tsunami relief effort in Sri Lanka.
