and making 3-D movies are a part of the creative curriculum being offered at the Aquinas
College Discovery Week, a hands-on math and science camp for middle school girls ages
11 to 13. Discovery Week will be held from Monday, June 21 to Wednesday, June 23 and
from Monday, July 12 to Friday, July 16. The girls will work with Aquinas math professors
and five female math majors on the robots and other projects. The fee is very affordable
at $50 for the entire week of activities including room and board. Scholarships are
available.
The purpose of Discovery Week is to show the girls that they are capable of taking math and science in high school and college. Aquinas is excited about offering this program because over half of its math professors are females. The Aquinas' staff knows how to challenge and energize young women plus help them develop confidence in their abilities.
