Stephanie Hovnanian is an active orchestral musician, chamber music enthusiast, and
educator. She is a member of the West Michigan Symphony Orchestra and performs regularly
with the Grand Rapids Symphony. Prior to moving to Michigan, she played with the
New World Symphony in Miami and the Civic Orchestra of Chicago.
As an active educator, she has taught clarinet at Western Michigan University from
2010-2019 and at Grand Rapids Community College from 2013-2021. She is also a member
of the GRS Artist in Residence program, where she performs regularly in schools with
both the Wunderwind Quintet and the trio Triple Play.
Stephanie has also participated in many summer music festivals, including the Chamber
Music Festival of Saugatuck, the Sun Valley Summer Symphony, the Festival at Round
Top, Aspen Music Festival, Banff Center for the Arts, the Monteux Music Festival,
and the Heidelberg Festival.
Stephanie earned her Master of Music in Clarinet Performance from DePaul University
and her Bachelor of Music from the Eastman School of Music. Her primary teachers include
Larry Combs and Kenneth Grant.
