Joseph Verschaeve received his initial training in clinical psychology and practiced
criminal forensic psychology for a decade prior to entering the field of social psychology
in 1999. Drawing upon the rich intellectual tradition of symbolic interactionist social
psychology (sociology's view) he served as Assistant Professor Sociology, Anthropology,
and Social Work at Central Michigan University (1999-2001) and then Affiliate Professor
of Sociology at Grand Valley State University with a teaching appointment in the Frederik
Meijer Honors College (2001-2016). Additionally, Joe served as Editor of the Michigan
Sociological Review (2004-2013) for nine consecutive years. Currently (2013-present)
Joe serves as President of International Sustainability Health Education Water (ISHEW)
