Photo Usage Rights

All photographs and video taken by the Aquinas College Marketing and Communications Department or outside photographers hired to photograph for Aquinas College photo and video shoots or events remain the property of Aquinas College. Aquinas shall have the irrevocable, non-exclusive right to exercise any and all rights granted by the United States Copyright Act, including, but not limited to, the right to reproduce, display, distribute, and transmit the Work throughout the world, in any media now known or later developed, and to create derivative works.

Photo Releases

Photos and video taken in public places, for purposes of news or general information, do not require photo releases. Photos and video used to advertise products or services of the university may not require releases when the focus of the photo or video is a location or event, not a person

When an individual's face is featured in such a way as to be clearly recognizable, and appears to endorse Aquinas College, the best practice is to obtain a signed release from the Marketing and Communications Department. Staff may obtain and store releases over and above these guidelines if they feel it is in their best interest.

Internet Photos and Video

You should not assume that photos and video found on the internet (including those indexed by Google Images) are free to use. Do not use Aquinas College photos and video found on the Internet unless you have received permission from Aquinas College.

Photo Requests from Outside the College

External media outlets, businesses and others who request permission to use Aquinas College photos and video may do so at the requested permission of the Aquinas College Marketing and Communications Department. Aquinas College photography and video is the property of Aquinas College and should be credited with the college name as shown:
