AQ Bikes Rideshare Public Bus System Van Pool Program
AQ Bikes
AQ Bikes is a new and sustainable way to get around the Aquinas campus and Grand Rapids area. As gas prices continue to fluctuate, eliminate uncertainty by checking out a more affordable way to travel. This school year Campus Safety will be offering a limited selection of bikes that may be rented by the day, weekend, or quad. Each bike will be inspected before and after use and equipped with a quality bike lock and helmet for safety and security. Rates and deposit information will be listed soon on the Campus Safety web page along with a form to fill out and reserve a bike. Any questions may be directed to or call 616-632-2449.

A virtual space where members of the Aquinas Community can post carpooling opportunities and find carpooling options. On the Moose, select "Sustainability Initiative" In the right hand navigation section to access "Rideshare."

The Rapid Public Bus System

Using public transportation is a great way to save gas money and green your transportation habits. AQ staff, faculty, and students can use the Rapid for only $0.25 per ride, with a valid Aquinas College ID. That's a savings of over $1 per ride!

Need a Route Map?
Free Rapid route maps available at the front desk of Regina and St. Jospeh. Maps are also available in the Mailroom/Copy Center in lower AB.
How to Ride

Riding the Rapid is as simple as 1-2-3!

  1. Find the route to your destination using a Route Map or the Rapid website.
  2. Check the times in your schedule for bus arrival.
  3. Get on the bus, show your AQ ID, and pay the $0.25 fare (cash only)
Note: If you need a transfer to another route, tell the bus driver when you board the bus.

The Rapid Van Pool Program
The Rapid Van Pool Program is perfect for people with long commutes who are interested in "sharing the ride." The Rapid provides vans to van pooling groups on a month to month basis, for a small fee. Approximately 20 Rapid Vans travel from Lansing, Kalamazoo, Muskegon, and other communities within 60 miles of Grand Rapids. All staff, faculty, and students of Aquinas College who regularly use a Rapid Van Pool, may seek reimbursement up to $22 per month.
How to Get Started
1. Contact The Rapid at (616) 774-1188 to find an existing Van pooling group in your area or to register your own group.
2. Download Aquinas' policies and procedures (pdf) for the Rapid Van Subsidy Program.
3. Submit a check request and appropriate documentation to Jessica Eimer at 632-1994 to obtain reimbursement for van pool costs paid to the Rapid.
