Outstanding Teacher Award

Criteria:
This award will be based on demonstrated record of fostering critical thinking, general support for students, engagement of students in their learning, patience and approachability along two or more of the following:

  • Learning through inquiry, experimentation and discovery
  • Heightened awareness and appreciation of cultural diversity and the importance of global contexts
  • Active participation in experiential learning and community partnerships
  • Active and collaborative learning through a variety of hands on, service learning or other experiences
  • Challenging and well organized presentations of the subject
  • Adaptability to the learning needs of students, innovative approaches to course materials
  • Creation of scholarly materials for student use, availability to students outside of class
  • Influencing students beyond the formal role as teacher such as advising or mentoring
  • Advising student organizations or groups

 

Eligibility:

  • Full time faculty (tenure and tenure-track)
  • Previous winners are eligible for this award again following the third year after winning this award

 

Outstanding Scholar Award

Criteria:
This award will be based on demonstrated excellence in scholarly or professional achievement in the previous 5 years including:

  • Publications
  • Presentations, shows
  • Installations
  • Performances
  • Student-centered research

 

Eligibility:

  • Full time faculty (tenure and tenure-track)
  • Previous winners are eligible for this award again following the third year after winning this award

 

Staff Excellence Award

Criteria:
This award will be based on a demonstrated commitment to the mission and values of Aquinas College and strong student involvement along with two or more of the following:

  • Significantly contributes to college initiatives, departmental initiatives, student success or improving the student experience
  • Improved operational efficiency or exceptional customer service
  • Increased productivity, cost savings or enhanced objectives
  • Continually challenging him/herself
  • Strong sense of finding positive, creative solutions and supporting change
  • Change agent
  • Innovator
  • Exceeding the expectations of their position

 

Eligibility:

  • All regular staff members, full time and part time (20+ hours), provided they are on non-probationary status and have more than three years of continuous service.
  • Previous winners are eligible for this award again following the third year after winning this award

 

Rising Star Award

Criteria:
This award will be based on a demonstrated commitment to the mission and values of Aquinas College and strong student involvement along with two or more of the following:

  • Significantly contributes to college initiatives, departmental initiatives, student success or improving the student experience
  • Improved operational efficiency or exceptional customer service
  • Increased productivity, cost savings or enhanced objectives
  • Continually challenging him/herself
  • Strong sense of finding positive, creative solutions and supporting change
  • Change agent
  • Innovator
  • Exceeding the expectations of their position
  • Significant engagement with the internal community

 

Eligibility:

  • All regular staff members, full time and part time (20+ hours), provided they are on non-probationary status and have been employed no less than one year and no more than three years of continuous service at the time of nomination.
  • Previous winners are eligible for this award again following the third year after winning this award
