Student of the Month

The Aquinas Student of the Month is chosen by a committee of faculty overseen by the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs and is given out in September, October, November, February, March and April. The award is based upon a student's academic record, research and leadership during the previous month at Aquinas College. Winners receive either a $25 bookstore or food service gift card.

Students of the Month

April
Aquinas College sophomore Dino Piccinini has been selected as the April Student of the Month. Dino is an English major and has been on the Dean’s List for all three of his semesters at Aquinas College. He is a very hard worker and manages the Moose Café and works in the writing center helping many students with papers. Dino endlessly strives for the pursuit of knowledge and upholds the Dominican Pillars of Prayer, Study, Work and Service.

April
Aquinas College first year student Emma Bukovietski has been selected as the April student of the month. Emma was interested in getting involved in the international events on campus before she started her first semester. She has helped to found the Multicultural Club at Aquinas and currently serves as the treasurer. She was instrumental in the organization and execution of the Global Food Festival and successfully secured funds from Student Senate to put on the event. She is ready to volunteer with any club task big or small and is constantly looking for ways to become more involved. Emma made the Dean’s List in her first eligible semester at Aquinas.

February
Aquinas College senior Cassie Herrington has been selected as the Student of the Month for February. Cassie is majoring in both Theology and Communication. Recently she organized an incredible student experience at the SEEK 2019: Encounter Something More Conference that was held in Indianapolis, IN. She served as the ambassador for the College. She was responsible for many details for example, inviting 45 students, travel and participation, collaborate with Campus Ministry, prayer time, food etc. Cassie is the president of the Catholic Student Fellowship Club. During semester breaks she serves as an active missionary with Building Bridges of Hope. She plans on spending her summer in the Dominican Republic. Cassie has been on the Dean’s List for four semesters.

November
Sara Boersma has been selected as Student of the Month for November 2018. Sara is a Junior majoring in Environmental Studies. She has been on the Dean's List every semester of her college career. In addition to her excellent work on her exams, she has been lauded for leading meaningful class discussions and having set a great example for others to follow in her footsteps. In addition to school Sara is passionate about working outdoors, sustainability and being zero-waste.

October
Aquinas College senior Lukas Isenga has been chosen as our Student of the Month for October.  Lukas is completing an English Literature Major, a Translation and Interpretation in French Major and a Writing Minor.   Lukas is a very involved volunteer member of the Insignis Honors Review Board.  Recently he submitted extensive constructive feedback for eight unique proposals that were under review for the HRB. He is the treasurer of the Alpha Chi lota, Aquinas's chapter of the English Honors Society Sigma Tau Delta. Lukas has been cast in Aquinas' December 2018 production of The Illusion and serves his fellow students as a member of the Aquinas College Student Senate. Lukas has been on the Dean's List every semester of his college career. Lukas has been approved to study abroad in France in the fall of 2020 and is planning to go into literary translation.

September
Aquinas College junior Spencer Vitaliy has been selected as the Student of the Month for September. Spencer is a Political Science major. In addition to his off campus work, Spencer is the immediate past president of the AQ Democrats Club and a participant in the Model UN club. Spencer has been on the Dean's List last year. He is a student who works tirelessly to overcome differences, to create an atmosphere of respect for all and to live truly the Aquinas values of community and service both on and off campus.
