Steps You Must Follow for a Safe & Successful Move-Out

Preparation/Planning for Move-Out:

  • Bring as many boxes, crates, or moving supplies that you need to pack your belongings.
  • With concern for the safety of all students and visitors and in compliance with social distancing regulations, you may bring only one person to assist you with your move-out.
  • We will regularly clean touchpoints in all buildings before and during the move-out process. That being said, you may want to consider bringing hand sanitizer, wipes, and/or rubber gloves.
  • In compliance with the Governor's executive order, all students and visitors are required to wear a mask or face covering while in any public space on-campus outside of your own room.

Day Of Move Out Procedures:

  • Do not come to campus if you are feeling ill or experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19. For more information regarding symptoms of COVID-19, visit the CDC website. Email reslife@aquinas.edu if you need to change your sign-up time.
  • Arrive on the day and time of your scheduled move-out. Your ID card will only provide you with access during your move-out time slot.
  • Plan to complete your move-out during the time allotted to assist in maintaining an environment conducive to social distancing.
  • Maintain at least 6 feet of distance between yourself and other individuals while you move-out to protect yourself and other members of the community.
  • Remove all personal belongings from your room/housing unit.
  • Leave the room in a generally clean condition. Typically, we would provide brooms, vacuums, and other cleaning supplies, but due to social distancing and the need to limit touchpoints, we will not require students to use such equipment to clean. Just do the best you can.
  • Remove all waste, recycling, and composting from the room and place in the waste areas in your building. In residence halls, please use the waste areas on your floors. In apartments/houses, please use the waste areas in your lobbies. Please do not overflow waste areas. All waste must be bagged/contained.
  • In apartments/houses with shared refrigerators, clean out your items from the fridge.
  • Shut and lock windows.
  • Make sure heating/cooling is turned off (in apartments).
  • Turn off the lights.
  • Lock your door.
  • Express Checkout Envelopes have been taped to your door with a new pen for you to keep. Put your room key and, if you are not returning to Aquinas housing next year, your laundry card, in the provided envelope. Please write your name and room # on the envelope. Return the envelope to the drop box location outside of the Campus Safety Office.
  • Complete the Express Checkout Online Form

I'm already moved out, but I haven't returned my key. What should I do?
