Holidays Hoops

‘Holiday Hoops’ will take place prior to and during the Saints’ doubleheader against UNOH, with the women tipping off at 1:00 p.m. and the men following at 3:00 p.m. The afternoon of holiday festivities will begin at noon, with Santa Claus also making the trip to AQ to visit and take pictures with fans in attendance. Santa will take part in ‘Holidays Hoops’ from noon until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, as Christmas cookies and holiday punch will be served during the celebration.

Fans are also encouraged to participate in the food drive at the doubleheader, with Aquinas donating food to the Kids’ Food Basket and Salvation Army. The Kids’ Food Basket is asking, for the following items on their wish list: fruit or applesauce cups/pouches, granola bars, cracker packs, toasted oat cereal, cheese crackers, pretzel twists, and snack size zipper bags. The Salvation Army will accept all non-perishable food items.

Any fans that choose to donate to either the Kids’ Food Basket or Salvation Army will receive free admission to the doubleheader and can also visit with Santa.

Also having a large part in Saturday’s festivities is the Aquinas College Choir, as the group will sing Christmas carols during halftime of both the women’s and men’s games. The choir will also sing during timeouts in both games, while encouraging the fans in attendance to join in and sing along, as song lyrics will be provided throughout the doubleheader.

The recent popularity of ugly Christmas sweaters will be celebrated, as well, with fans and students encouraged to wear their best ugly Christmas sweater or holiday apparel. A prize will be given to the person with the best Christmas outfit.
